Explore what’s possible when movement and language meet
Connect body and mind through movement and writing.
In this workshop, you will move between guided gentle somatic movement, rest and writing, noticing what is present and how your writing shifts as you move your body, settle, and listen. What words, stories, or characters may emerge?
Guided by Laura, you’ll explore sensations, impulses, thoughts, images, and whatever else may arise as you drop inwards.
From this place, writing becomes another way of listening to our inner world and the space we share with others. You might work with pre-writing, stream of consciousness, fragments, poetry, fiction, or more structured pieces. There is no wrong way to write, and no finished piece to produce.
Taking place as part of Sean Atmos’ Last Light IMMERSION weekend, this workshop sits within the exhibition’s exploration of transition, transformation and the liminal space between light and dark.
This is an invitation to experience embodied writing. To use your body as a route into writing, to notice what is revealed during the transition from movement to stillness.
We invite you to spend time with the exhibition before the beginning of the workshop, allowing Sean’s work to become another source of inspiration for your writing, noticing what it stirs, what it brings to the surface, and what might emerge from there.
No experience required. Just curiosity.
