Exploring the relationship between light and shadow
Join us for a hands-on printmaking workshop where light and shadow create one-of-a-kind, natural prints.
During this workshop, you will explore lumen printing, a process where light activates the image while shadow reveals it over time, creating a collaboration between light and dark.
Guided by Merve Sagit, you will be given an introduction to the history and technique of lumen printing before being led through a demonstration of this camera-less printing process, examining how light, shade, chemistry, and organic matter interact.
You are invited to work with plants and organic materials gathered from the garden, creating prints on light-sensitive paper that respond to seasonal change through texture and composition.
A reflective, ritualistic space, the afternoon incorporates poetry, creative discussion, and seasonal integration.
No prior experience needed. All materials provided.
