A moment of grounding during the busy summer season
In the longest days of the year, come together in celebration of the Summer Solstice for an evening of chanting together and soundbath for deep rest.
The gathering opens with Kirtan, a call-and-response singing practice of sacred ancient Vedic mantras. You are invited to join in and sing along with Michelle as she leads us in song, accompanying the melodies in playing her harmonium.
The collective energy of the group singing in unison makes this practice a powerful form of meditation, a moment of grounding during the busy summer season. Kirtan is focused on the heart and spirit, not sound, so don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a singer – all are welcome to contribute.
Moving from this place of collective joy and calm, you are guided to drop fully inwards underneath the aural tapestry of a 50-minute sound bath. Infused with the soothing vibrations of the Kirtan mantras, your body will naturally relax, recalibrate, and unwind.
The sound journey begins with a grounding meditation, focusing on the breath. Then, all you have to do is to lie back, melt into your mat, and allow the gorgeous tones and frequencies of Barbara’s quartz singing bowls, gongs, shamanic drums, and koshi chimes wash over you.
The variety of instruments create a soundscape that brings the brain into a theta state, giving the nervous system an opportunity to exhale. This is called the “rest and digest” state of the parasympathetic nervous system, a chance to check out and be nourished by sound.
No singing or sound bath experience necessary.
