This workshop invites you to connect with yourself, dropping inwards on a guided meditation, and with those around you, chatting with other like-minded participants as you craft, embroider, and play in a low-pressure, creatively freeing environment.

The session begins with a guided meditation led by Britt Winkelman in the Gallery Space. Surrounded by the art of Leah Hewson’s exhibition ‘Raze the Container: Redux’ Britt will gently bring you back to yourself, helping you find your personal anchor in meditation, so you can feel grounded in your body and ready for creative exploration.

From this place of presence, Ailbhe Kelleher from Idle Hands will lead you to let loose and have fun with messy embroidery. The slow and repetitive nature of embroidery helps you to stay in this meditative state, solely focusing on the process, not on the outcome.

Then, you will be provided with a striking image from Leah Hewson’s exhibition to embroider and decorate with a protective Bealtaine charm. The sensory experience of engaging with Hewson’s art allows you to form an entirely personal connection to her work, finding your own meaning within its world, process, and story.
