A community celebration to remember our loved ones who have passed
Join us in creating a space for the people who are no longer here, but who remain with us.
In Irish tradition, Samhain is a liminal time, when the boundary between this world and the otherworld is thin. In a lot of indigenous cultures, there are celebrations for the dead around this time of year.
Gathering as a community to remember, you are invited to bring a photograph or something that reminds you of your loved one. You may bring a food that holds a memory to share with the group, a story you want to tell, a name you want to speak, or simply bring your presence.
Together, we’ll create a vibrant altar to the people we carry. We’ll hang photographs, write names, memories, thoughts, and messages onto ribbons and add them to the space, each a small offering, until individual memories become something collective.
Britt will guide us through a meditation and a gentle exploration of some of the bigger questions we all encounter around life and death, love and loss, meaning, memory, and what it means to be here.
We’ll then gather around the fire for a ritual of remembering.
There’s no right or wrong way to take part. You can share a story, sit quietly, listen, remember, whatever feels natural. You don’t need to be grieving to join. This is simply a space to remember those who have gone before us, and perhaps, in remembering them, help us to pay closer attention to being alive.
The price for this gathering will be on a donation basis which you can contribute on the night.
