Dreampool is a place, a portal, and a project. It is an evolving, nationwide collaboration of dreamers who come to tend its waters through ritual and sonic immersion.
In traditional societies, dreams belonged to the collective. The community would dream for the health of the tribe, the ancestors, and the land.
We can rethink dreams not as private productions of the personal unconscious, but as phenomena belonging to a collective pool of images, figures, and voices. Through a practice of Active Imagination (rooted in depth/Jungian psychology) we can dive into this pool and the ancient, symbolic language of psyche.
Guided by Lindsay Merlihan, Dreampool unfolds as a deep sonic immersion into the imaginal, accompanied by a live electronic set of ambient and experimental sound by Josh Sampson.
The ritual begins with an offering of blue lotus tea, an ancient ally of visionary states, to ground you in the space and prepare you for the experience.
You are then guided into a restorative position to undergo a 45-minute sound journey exploring inner archetypes, guides, and landscapes. Upon waking, we allow the dream to speak through writing, reflection, and exchange.
In symbolic resonance of Kari Cahill’s charcoal painting exhibition ‘Glinting at the Edge of’ showing in the Segotia Gallery for Dublin Gallery Weekend, this Dreampool explores the liminal zone between elements, selves, and states of matter, where new forms and ideas take shape. A space between, where matter, meaning, and self dissolve and begin again, transforming and shifting ground between what is and what is forming.

Lindsay Merlihan
Lindsay Merlihan is a depth curator and visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice bridges contemporary art and depth psychology. Her work investigates how psyche becomes material through artistic process, exploring the visual personification of inner life as a means of shaping new archetypes and cultural value systems. Working across painting, collage, costume and assemblage, Lindsay creates work as a means of investigating personal and collective psyche. Her curatorial work emerges from multidisciplinary collaboration and creating unconventional audio-visual spaces for new collective ritual. She offers courses and workshops in art + psyche and is the creator of Dreampool.
Joshua Sampson
Joshua Sampson is a drummer and electronic artist based in Belfast. He plays with musical acts such as Róis, Rita Lynn & Le Chéile and has performed ambient music sessions for yoga classes with Justine Browne, a yoga teacher from the Duncairn
